Black Snow
I was honoured to be asked to design the cover and title image for a documentary film by my good friend Professor Steve Linstead. The film marks the 150 year anniversary of the worst mining disaster ever to have occurred in England. In 1866 at Barnsley's Oaks Colliery two explosions killed 361 men and boys. The film was premiered at the Parkway Cinema in Barnsley to over 350 people. Following on from the screening was a march through the town accompanied by brass band, morris dancers and pipe band, along with a several NUM union banners. The parade gathered for the unveiling of Graham Ibbeson's sculpture in its permanent position in the Peace Gardens. The turnout was amazing and supporters came from far and wide. Author Ian Clayton presided and many famous faces were there, including actress and activist, Maxine Peake.
