Underneath The Stars Festival

Cannon Hall Park in the the beautiful rolling scenery of Cawthorne was the location for the very first music festival run entirely by the Rusby family. Underneath The Stars, the fourth studio album by Kate Rusby released in 2003, was the title used to encapsulate the bright new venture. The site comprised two enormous marquees, a planetarium, food and craft stalls and a vintage fairground for the kids. Joe Rusby, Kate's younger brother, was the mastermind behind the event which packed in such top names as Richard Thompson, The Puppini Sisters, Dave Burland, Blair Dunlop, Moll Amour, Sarah Jarosz, Ade Edmonson's Bad Shepherds and of course Kate herself.

I agreed to cover the weekend and provide a comprehensive collection of photographs, in order to help in future promotion and for my own portfolio. The sun shone, the performers were terrific, the food was great and all in all it was an astounding success. So here's to next year!
