There's no business like Showzam business

A week in Blackpool. Not everyone's cup of tea, but a commission to photograph the 2013 festival of circus, magic and variety was right up my street ... literally.

My obsession with street photography went into overdrive as novelty acts took to the pedestrian areas around the famous Winter Gardens. My friend Martin (alias Marge) of Granny Turismo had asked me to cover their performances around town and in the famous Tower Ballroom. The National Fairground Archive at The University of Sheffield then expressed an interest in me photographing all the other acts. This included The Last Waltz – an immersive circus theatre experience with live musical score, dancing, carousing and swinging from the chandeliers.
